A Historic Milestone: Azerbaijan’s First PCI Case Guided by Multimodal OCT System
Azerbaijan recently completed its First PCI Case Guided by Vivolight’s Multimodal P80 OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) system, marking a groundbreaking achievement in the region’s cardiovascular care. Led by Dr. Ulvi, a renowned cardiologist, this milestone highlights Vivolight’s commitment to advancing precision medicine through cutting-edge technology.
The patient, a 64-year-old lady, presented with a complex medical history, including coronary artery disease (CAD), type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), and atrial fibrillation (AFIB). A prior coronary angiography at another center identified a left anterior descending artery (LAD)–diagonal branch (D1) bifurcation lesion. However, the lesion’s intermediate severity required a more detailed evaluation using advanced imaging and physiological assessment tools.
The P80 OCT device integrates OCT-FFR functional assessment technology onto the high-resolution OCT intravascular imaging platform, providing a more comprehensive and holistic preoperative evaluation of complex lesions compared to DSA. This integration offers additional evidence for formulating treatment strategies, which is also the key to the success of this case.
The Vivolight’s Multimodal P80 OCT system played a pivotal role in this procedure by delivering exceptional diagnostic accuracy and efficiency with its innovative features:
A single OCT pullback delivers a multimodal assessment with no need for extra consumables or procedure time. This efficiency reduces costs and streamlines workflows, enhancing patient outcomes while maintaining procedural simplicity.
Vivolight Medical is a pioneering medical device company based in Shenzhen, China, specializing in the fusion of laser diagnostic technologies and minimally invasive interventional operations. Currently, Vivolight ranks second globally in the production of coronary OCT systems, just behind Abbott. The company's innovative system integrates imaging, OCT-FFR functional assessment, and plaque type diagnostics, significantly enhancing the convenience of obtaining multi-dimensional vascular information while substantially reducing clinical costs.
This successful case underscores the transformative potential of the Vivolight OCT system in managing complex cardiovascular conditions. Dr. Ulvi’s pioneering efforts in utilizing this innovative technology demonstrate the impact of clinician expertise combined with advanced tools. Vivolight remains dedicated to driving innovation and expanding the reach of advanced cardiovascular diagnostics, empowering clinicians globally to deliver precise, efficient, and patient-centered care.
